As part of our ayurvedic cooking series, with recipes courtesy of ayurvedic health counselor Debbie Helfeld at Yoga and Practical Ayurveda, we have a recipe designed specifically for a pitta diet. In ayurveda, a pitta dosha is said to be moist, hot, and light. The ideal pitta dosha diet should include cooling, heavy, and not too watery foods. Ayurvedic nutrition supports your dosha, and this healthy zucchini recipe is perfect for balancing pitta dosha.

Zucchini makes the perfect base for this delicious vegetarian side dish and is ideal for a pitta diet, as it’s cool and light. Seasoned with cumin seeds and coconut oil, ingredients that promote cooling, you have a dish that not only tastes great, but will also help to calm and balance pitta dosha. To learn more about the doshas, and find out what yours might be, check out our What’s Your Dosha? post by Dr. Carrie Demers. Also check out our other ayurvedic recipes for kaphas and vatas.
